Light and Shadow

The project

The permanent sculpture "Light and Shadow" was conceived to represent the passing of time through the natural succession of day and night. With this idea, it was trivial yet very efficient, to begin with the concept of the sundial that is easily found on the walls of most villas and homes in the area. The five steel Cor-Ten plates that hold the functioning sundial are the guide for the natural creation of the lines of this project. The variety and difference of the graphic traces depend on the requirements for completion of the quadrant and especially on the need to consider the geographic and construction factors such as local coordinates, orientation, and inclination of the projecting surface. These shapes become the basis of the conception of a sculpture complete of elements that all have a formal and static function.
