Two sculptural bus shelters, designed and fabricated by artist Davide Prete, have been installed in Hyattsville, enhancing the streetscape in Baltimore Ave and Jefferson St.
Designed with both function and aesthetics in mind, the shelters offer a dynamic experience for commuters. Their curved metal framework incorporates a standard seat, a high seat, and a designated wheelchair space, ensuring accessibility for all. On the left side, lighter structural elements allow for clear visibility of oncoming buses while providing shelter from wind and rain.
Inspired by the flowing forms of Art Nouveau, the design offers a translucent blue roof that filters sunlight and rain while allowing commuters a partial view of the sky, creating a moment of connection with the environment as they wait.
